Private flute lessons in newberg, oregon
What to expect from private lessons?
My studio consists of students of all ages and skill ranges on the flute. Lessons are taught in downtown Newberg at the Chehalem Cultural Center; conveniently located near Sherwood, Tualatin, Dundee, McMinnville, and Yamhill. Our lessons will put “music in context” and incorporate elements of music theory, music history, and body mapping to give you a full understanding of flute playing. Instruction is personalized, but all curricula emphasize goal setting and beneficial practice strategies. See below for examples of how flute lessons can support you or your child.
School
In addition to strengthening skills in band or orchestra class, research shows that learning an instrument increases academic performance in english, math, and science.
Creative outlet
Flute playing is, above all else, fun! Playing music conveys emotions and storytelling. My lessons keep that in mind so students can express themselves freely.
college prep
Several colleges offer music scholarships even if your student is not going to be a music major. Private lessons can prepare you for these opportunities. If your student wants to major in music, lessons prior to college are important as most music programs require auditions and are very competitive.
auditions and solo contests
Interested in OMEA Solo Contest, OMEA All-State, Portland Youth Philharmonic, or trying out for first chair at your school? Lessons can build the technique and musicality that lead to consistent performances in auditions.
